BillSafer (Wireless Internet Billing Simulation & Verification Solution)
BillSafer Overview Wireless Internet contents service providers can use BillSafer to eliminate the revenue losses and subscriber's unnecessary spending due to billing errors.
BillSafer receives all UDRs (Usage Detail Records) from the existing billing system, analyzes them and monitors them. Also, it collects the raw logs generated by the service platforms (WAP/ME/BREW/WIPI Gateway, Multimedia Downloading Server, Streaming Server, CPs Contents Server, etc.) after completion of contents services, and then executes billing simulation for verification, which is then compared with the UDR for actual billing discrepancies.
The billing administrator can use BillSafer to view the billing results and categorize incorrect billing records by cause. The administrator can also view various detailed reports that contain data on wireless Internet billing and usage.
BillSafer consists of Tas, VE, RS and the BillSafer Web Site.
1. TAs(Transfer Agents)
TAs efficiently transfers the UDR in the billing system and the raw contents usage logs in service platforms to BillSafer for the purpose of verifying wireless Internet contents billing. The administrator can control the TA actions like start transfer start, stop transfer, and hold transfer. TAs also transfer the monitoring data to BillSafer for estimating the performance of the service platform or the billing system.
2. VE(Verification Engine)
VE contains a several important modules like logLoader, logInspector, logSaver, logManager, and alarmSender. These modules work together very efficiently for verifying billing-related data such as the UDR or the raw logs. VE checks for overlooked billing instances and double billing instances and analyzes causes for billing errors by comparing the billing simulation results and UDRs.
3. RS(Rating Simulator)
RS is an optional sub-module for the BillSafer VE. RS can be used to test the billing prior to launching a new contents service.
4. Web Site(BillSafer Web Site)
BillSafer Web Site facilitates viewing of all reports provided by BillSafer including processed UDRs, billing results by time, date, trends, etc.
Verification
Application of incorrect billing rules can lead to revenue losses and customer complaints. The best way to eliminate concerns over such problems is to prevent billing errors in advance and to identify and solve billing errors as quickly as possible. BillSafer provides both of these solutions.
Simulation
RS (Rating Simulator) can run billing simulations by navigating between different wireless Internet contents. RS navigates from the top menu of the portal site to the n-depth of CP contents menus, covering all contents, to generate detailed results of the URLs of the contents with incorrect billing information. While running the billing simulations, it also records the menu tree structure of the contents in the database. Such menu tree database is useful for viewing of the actual menu location on phones for each contents service.
Statistics
Statistics generation module is another important component of BillSafer. BillSafer uses this module to generate various billing statistics data by usage hour, day, etc. BillSafer statistics data include total billing amount by hour and day, total number of billing instances for free and premium services, correct billing instances, erroneous billing instances, billing verification results by code, and average amounts by hour and day.
These statistics data for all wireless Internet contents can be viewed almost real-time, allowing the administrator to see which contents on which service platforms are having billing errors. All statistics data are provided with text data and plot graphs.
Warehouse
BillSafer saves all processed UDR and raw logs in the database. BillSafer Warehouse is the collection of data for all contents that have been transmitted to phones by the users requests and includes information on the phone, contents, billing rates, contents transmission results, etc.
Alarming
BillSafer's alarm transmission module has the functionality to send SMS or e-mail alarm messages automatically to the administrator for any billing errors in the billing process. By registering the phone number or e-mail address along with the alarm generation rules in the BillSafer system, the administrator can receive information on increase or decrease of billing errors, increase or decrease of correct billing instances, and rapid increase of billing amounts for specific service platforms. It is also capable of generating detailed alarms for each CP and contents ID.
